Judy Anne
(Tanner) Wooten
July 19, 1955 – February 17, 2026
Judy Anne Wooten, born Judy Anne Tanner, passed away on February 17, 2026 at 6:28 p.m. in Newnan, Georgia. She was born on July 19, 1955, and throughout her seventy years, she lived with a spirit that was vibrant, resilient, and unforgettable.
Judy was a woman who truly loved life. Music pumped through her veins like blood, and she shared that love with others at every chance she got. Some of her favorite bands included Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, and Bad Company. She also had a passion for cars and possessed a knowledge and confidence around them that impressed everyone who knew her. She could tell you what was wrong with your car before even popping the hood, and had no problem getting her hands dirty when the time came.
Above all, Judy was devoted to her family. She was the beloved daughter of Charles Tanner and Oletta Tanner. She was a loving sister to Regina Tanner and was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck Tanner. She was a proud and devoted mother to her only child, Jeremy Wooten. She was an adoring grandmother to Josh, Justin, and Kimberly, who brought immense light into her life. She is also survived by her fiancé, Don Stewart, along with many cousins and extended family members whom she loved dearly.
In the words of her son:
"I remember being five or so when she began introducing me to music. The Dance had just come out, and it practically became a weekly ritual for us to watch for a long time. It tickled her that I used to say at that age that I wanted to marry Stevie Nicks. She's always called me 'Doodlebutt,' because I loved to draw or doodle. It's no surprise that I went on to pursue the arts as a career. Mom supported me the entire time. Whether it was traveling with me to Florida to watch me walk for my graduation ceremony for my Bachelor's in Animation, or standing front stage at any of the times I performed music live, that was who she was. Not just for me, but for everyone she cared for.
Mom was nothing short of a fighter. She could make men three times her size fearful of upsetting her. She had a fire inside her so intense that it made her hair the most vibrant shades of red. She was deeply inspirational, brutally honest, and felt everything with her whole heart. I owe some of my greatest qualities to her, and I am proud to say I am not alone in feeling that way.
I am going to miss her deeply, as many others will. She will miss milestones in my life and in her grandchildren's lives that we will have to learn to be okay with. At the same time, she has left an impact so deep in my life and the lives of many that we will still feel her presence for a long, long time.
I love you, Mom. Thank you for everything."
A celebration of Judy's life will be held on March 15, 2026. Her legacy of strength, music, laughter, and fierce love will continue to live on in every song played a little louder, every dream pursued boldly, and every life she touched.
